Up for auction from my Great Aunts Arizona estate, is a nicely carved Redware pottery sphere made by a Jemez Pueblo American Indian. A Native American Jemez artist, working on the plaza in the late 70's during Indian Market (Santa Fe, New Mexico) created the little sphere. The artist carved the sphere with butterflies, feathers, and flowers. One small area on the side of the sphere is scribed with the artists’ name – “Noreen Gachupin” and their tribal affiliation "Jemez."  The
sphere measures 2 1/2" tall x 2 1/4" one inch from the top, tapering to 1 1/4” at the base.
Please review the information I've included above under "Condition Description," check-out each of the photos, and feel free to ask any questions - GOOD LUCK! ....…jeff
Jemez Pueblo Pottery -
The Jemez Pueblo is located in Central-Northern New Mexico. The pottery produced there is known for its distinctive earth-tone colors blending stone polished and matte finishes with painted and etched designs. The Navajo people of this Pueblo began creating their works in the 1920s and 30s and in the 1970s began to take on more distinctive designs and qualities that make it very popular among collectors and enthusiasts of Native American pottery today.
