Jemez Pueblo Native American 3.5" Indian Pottery 2 Children Storyteller Signed Mary Toya
This Native American Indian storyteller was created by award winning Jemez Pueblo artist, Mary E. Toya using clay gathered from the grounds of the Jemez Pueblo of New Mexico. The pottery is hand painted with all natural slips and feature traditional Jemez symbols. The piece was fired outdoors as is traditional. This is an impressive piece without any chips or cracks but some paint loss due to age.
The polychrome pottery storyteller holds 2 children, each carrying toys.
Mary E. Toya, Jemez Pueblo (1934-1990) matte polychrome, red and black-on-tan Storytellers, jars, bowls, plates wedding vases. Mary Toya was famous for creating some of the largest Storytellers. Some of her dolls were covered with over a hundred babies. She passed her pottery-making tradition on to her daughters.

Very nice authentic Acoma seed type jar. Very good to excellent condition. Wear and use with age. Bottom of jar says Acoma $5.00. 6.5" diameter x 3.5 tall. Circa 1920's. (#11602-3)
