Hand made Native American pottery teapot, 5" across (7" from spout to handle) and 5 1/4" high. The teapot comes from Red Earth Pottery, Mesa Verde Pottery, Cortez, Colorado. It is signed by the artisan, "Rodwell or Rockwell, Nav(ajo)".
The teapot is a deep red ochre, with a band of hand incised bas relief design of the spectacular towering buttes found in native Navajo lands. Most people will be familiar with "Monument Valley" Arizona. The sky behind the buttes and mesas is tinted in wonderful sunset colors. Above and below the scene are bands of hand incised geometric design.
The teapot is in excellent condition, with mild crazing, as seen in the photos.
