This is an early piece. The sgraffito design is not as precise as later pieces or those done by Ella Irving, Berniece Talbot or Olive Cottier. There are a few imperfections that are production issues as opposed to damage. Please see photos with notes added about what we are seeing.

Nice vintage polychrome storyteller pottery with 3 children. The storyteller is signed on bottom Ivan Lewis Cochiti Pueblo New Mexico  as shown. The storyteller is over 7 inches tall and his back is 4 1/2 inches wide. The story teller is in a sitting position and legs extend in front making it 6 inches from back to bottom of feet. The storyteller has a painted turquoise colored necklace as shown. Ivan Lewis the artist is the son of famous Acoma Potter Lucy Lewis.
