Just a lovely and fun piece of pottery work. The expressions and actions of the children are just fun and funny.
Alas and alak, this piece has been dinged a few times, making it perfect for an entry level collector. The left eye of the sprawled child has been dinged, the left side of the storyteller's headband has been dinged and is missing a tail end. Those are the most egregious flaws, but it has quite a few scraps and scuffs all around. The photos do a good job of showing piece as it is.
It measures 6.5" in height. It is signed on the bottom with what looks like might have been the orginal price in pencil as well as a possible date, which is not completely legible.
Glad to answer any questions.
Thank you for looking.
Presented today is this lovely, contemporary Jemez Polychrome vase
. It is 3 and a half inches in diameter and 5 inches tall. This is an early example of the artistry of Sharon Sarracino, a Laguna/Jemez potter of great esteem and influence. Her work is very contemporary, and over time she has adopted a great range of colors. She is best known for her depictions of Butterfly Maidens, as in this example. The piece is in very good condition, and has lived its life in a glass case.
Buy with complete confidence, for as you all know, if the buyer is unsatisfied for ANY reason, i will immediately return the full purchase price, along with return shipping. Jemez pottery has been rising in popularity for several years, and this one will look great in your collection. Many thanks for your kind consideration. As always, Best Regards, Mary
