After the war, he flew briefly for Braniff Airlines before settling in El Reno and starting Haynes Studio. As a photographer, he photographed the history of El Reno and its residents for more than 60 years. His love of native wildflowers led to a series of prints on canvas, some of which hang in the Oklahoma State Capitol Building
