Native Santa Clara Pueblo Red Pottery Bowl Signed Agapita Tafoya Early Rare Piece. Agapita Tafoya ( 1904 - 1959). Agapita was the first wife of Camilo Tafoya. Both are renown Pueblo artists. She was an active potter in the first half of the 20th century at the time when pottery was always made in the traditional manner. The background of this red slipped design was over painted with earth colored red clay and the red slip was polished to a fine sheen. It has minor wear but is an early signed piece. It measures 2 1/2 inches tall by 4 inches wide. This pottery came from a private Native American museum
